AHS 2121 - Medical Billing & Coding I

Credits: 3

This course examines the medical insurance industry, the history of medical insurance, and the emergence of managed care, HMOs, and PPOs. Students will apply medical insurance vocabulary as it relates to common health care programs and use Physician’s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), ICD-9-CM and HCPCS, to correctly bill and code visits and procedures for reimbursement. Prerequisite: Medical Terminology.
