Clinical Medical Assisting



This certificate prepares students for clinical duties in a health care setting, working under the direct supervision of a physician or other health practitioner. Students will develop the skills and knowledge required to effectively perform clinical functions including patient intake and care, routine diagnostic and recording procedures, pre-examination and examination assistance, and the administration of medications and first aid, while adhering to legal and ethical standards in the field.

Students who complete the Clinical Medical Assisting certificate can apply those courses to CCV’s Health Science (A.S.)  program.

Program Outcomes


Students who complete the certificate will be able to:

  • apply basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disease processes of the human body to effectively communicate with patients and providers;
  • employ basic knowledge of law and ethics as they pertain to a medical office;
  • perform clinical duties characteristic of medical assistants while maintaining proper infection prevention techniques; 
  • complete the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) examination with a passing score; and 
  • explore pathways and demonstrate preparedness for educational and career development in the student’s field of study.
