Pharmacy Technician

This certificate prepares students to work as a pharmacy technician under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Students will develop the skills and knowledge required of a pharmacy technician including filling prescriptions, proper storage and handling of medication, and professional customer service.
Students who complete the Pharmacy Technician certificate can apply those courses to CCV’s Health Science (A.S.) program.

Program Outcomes
Students who complete the certificate will be able to:
- employ basic knowledge of law and ethics as they pertain to a pharmacy setting;
- perform mathematical calculations used in filling prescription orders;
- apply appropriate medical terminology for a pharmacy setting;
- provide quality customer service through clear communication, sensitivity to customer needs, and maintenance of confidentiality;
- demonstrate knowledge of drug classifications and common drug interactions; and
- explore pathways and demonstrate preparedness for educational and career development in the student’s field of study.
