This certificate prepares students as creative artists with instruction in the traditional fine arts media (drawing, painting, sculpture) as well as art historical and studio art elective courses. Students will explore principles of design, color, and composition to create engaging visual art projects, which can be displayed in a portfolio of work to access educational and career opportunities.
Students who complete the Studio Art certificate can apply those courses to CCV’s Design & Media Studies (A.A.) program.

Program Outcomes
Students who complete the certificate will be able to:
- display technical skill in drawing, painting, and 3-D applications, applying principles of design, color and composition to their work;
- effectively communicate visual concepts and ideas, including some reference to the art historical, social, and cultural context;
- create visual art projects that engage audiences using a variety of design techniques and aesthetic elements;
- develop a portfolio of finished work that is displayed in a professional manner and effectively integrates content and form; and
- explore pathways and demonstrate preparedness for educational and career development in the student’s field of study.
