This certificate prepares students to use digital technologies and the application of design thinking and problem-solving skills incorporating the principles and elements of print and web design to create a professional portfolio that effectively communicates readiness for employment and educational opportunities.

Students who complete the Graphic Design certificate can apply those courses to CCV’s Design & Media Studies (A.A.)  program.

Program Outcomes


Students who complete the certificate will be able to:

  • demonstrate fluency with the principles and elements of design, concept development, and formal visual problem-solving through the creation of a range of graphic design projects;
  • demonstrate effective use of digital technologies used in the graphic design profession to create professional quality graphic design projects;
  • demonstrate familiarity with a variety of roles and functions within the design industry, including clients, advertisers, art directors, designers and producers;
  • curate a professional portfolio of selected finished works that effectively communicates readiness for employment or further education; and
  • explore pathways and demonstrate preparedness for educational and career development in the student’s field of study.
