EDU 1430 - Supporting Students with Diverse Abilities in K-12 Settings Credits: 3 This course introduces students to the history, philosophy, legislation, and recommended practices for supporting children with disabilities and other diverse learners in K-12 settings with a focus on the paraeducator role. Strategies for ensuring inclusive learning environments that provide developmentally and age-appropriate instructional and learning support are discussed. Course topics include understanding disability categories, promoting access to the general curriculum, implementing accommodations and modifications, and fostering positive behavioral and social-emotional development.
Prerequisites: Recommended prior or concurrent learning: Perspectives on Development , Child Development , or a course focused on child development. Click here for course offerings
