This program is great for you if:
- you enjoy working with children and families.
- you care about making a difference for children and families in your community.
- you currently work in or are interested in a career in a K-12 Education Setting.
- you want to gain theoretical background and practical experience in the field of education and early education
- you plan to transfer to a four year degree program in a K-12 Education field, for example Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education.
Key information and advice for students in the Liberal Studies with a Specialization in Education program:
- The Paraeducator certificate is designed to stack seamlessly into the Liberal Studies with Specialization in Education program.
- Students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Education are encouraged to identify transfer options early to optimize course choices.
- Students interested in transferring a bachelor’s degree in Education should become familiar with the requirements for entry into that that program including testing requirements such as the Praxis Core exam.
- Students interested in following a pathway toward Teacher Licensure in the state of Vermont should be maintain artifacts from coursework at CCV for their Teacher Licensure portfolio.
- Background checks are common in K-12 Education. Those with prior justice system involvement are encouraged to research employment exclusions that may arise depending on role, employer, and/or licensing criteria.
