BUS 1190 - Health & Safety in the Work Environment

Credits: 3
This course introduces students to equipment, practices, and procedures that promote a healthy, safe, and secure work environment. Students will learn the components of preventive health, safety, and environmental incident and hazard inspections to avoid and improve upon health, safety, security, and/or environmental practices. Topics include local, federal, and individual company health, safety, security, and environmental regulations such as Hazardous Material Handling and Disposal (HAZMAT), Office of Homeland Security system and physical security regulations, regulations governing safe use of equipment, and the role of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA). Students will learn proper use of personal protective equipment and safety procedures for a clean and safe working environment.
